Eduardo Kac

Desde o início dos anos 80, Eduardo Kac foi pioneiro na criação de novas formas de arte e poesia que expandem os limites de lugar, luz, linguagem e vida. Integrou várias disciplinas para apresentar uma visão imaginativa da relevância da arte no mundo contemporâneo, visão esta com raízes firmes na formação do artista em filosofia e literatura. Amplamente reconhecido por seu trabalho inovador online antes do advento da Web, particularmente sua arte de telepresença, Kac desenvolveu novas formas poéticas, como a holopoesia, a poesia digital e a aromapoesia. Seu trabalho tem progressivamente se concentrado nas relações entre os seres humanos e entre máquinas, animais e outras formas de vida. O trabalho de Kac busca, além da exploração da linguagem humana e cultural, abranger a comunicação entre todos os organismos vivos. Visualmente e intelectualmente estimulante, sua arte promove uma combinação visionária entre robótica, biotecnologia e networking. Kac usa processos de comunicação, a vida biológica e redes digitais para criar trabalhos que exploram as experiências humanas fundamentais, tais como a fluidez da linguagem, interação dialógica, e a consciência do nosso lugar relativo na comunidade viva maior. O trabalho de Kac tem sido exibido internacionalmente em locais como Whitechapel Gallery, Londres; Exit Art e Ronald Feldman Belas Artes, New York; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; Castello di Rivoli, Turim, Itália; Mori Art Museum, Tóquio; Museu Reina Sofia, Madrid; Zendai Museu de Arte Moderna, Shanghai; e Seoul Museum of Art, Coréia. O trabalho de Kac tem sido apresentado em bienais como a Trienal de Yokohama, Japão; Bienal do Fim do Mundo, Ushuaia, Argentina; Bienal de Gwangju, Coréia; Bienal de São Paulo, Brasil; Trienal Internacional de New Media Art, Museu Nacional de Arte da China, Beijing; e Bienal de Havana, Cuba. Seu trabalho é parte da coleção permanente do Museu Victoria & Albert, em Londres, o Museu de Arte Moderna de Nova York, o Museu de Arte Moderna de Valência, Espanha, o Museu do ZKM, Karlsruhe, Alemanha, e do Museu de Arte Contemporânea, São Paulo, entre outros. O trabalho de Kac tem sido destaque tanto em publicações de arte contemporânea (Art in America, Flash Art, Artforum, Contemporary, ARTnews, Kunstforum, Tema Celeste, Artpress, NY Arts Magazine) e nos meios de comunicação de massa (ABC, BBC, PBS, Le Monde, Boston Globe, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, New York Times).
